The volcano's shadow in the morning

The Fujinomiya route climbs toward Fuji’s crater rim at night. At first light, the torii stands out against the clear horizon. The volcano casts a large triangular shadow as the light reveals the walls and hollows of the crater.

The light also reveals the inside of the crater: gray, brown and red layers, with some snow left in a hollow. The slopes there are almost entirely bare rock.
